QUALITY CONTROL

When it serves our purpose, we are happy to take unusual approaches. However, we are uncompromising on one point: compliance with the highest quality criteria is essential. We conduct audits in advance of any collaboration to ensure that our products are only manufactured where our quality requirements can be met. Our employees within our network closely inspect the items both internally and directly on site. In addition, we work together with proven testing institutes.

Within risk management, we constantly focus on identifying, analysing, evaluating, monitoring and controlling potential risks. This enables us to identify potential risks at an early stage, avoid them or optimise the items accordingly.

As a medium-sized company, we take our responsibility towards the environment and society particularly seriously. For this reason, corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a firmly embedded part of our corporate philosophy, serving as a natural extension of our core values: quality, respect, responsibility, and integrity. We are convinced that sustainable, ecological, and social action not only ensures a company’s long-term success, but also secures access to the customers of the future.

In order to live up to our principles and values, we follow a comprehensive CSR concept in our daily work. We consider legal requirements to be minimum standards. Beyond this, we voluntarily integrate social and ecological initiatives and activities that affect both our operations and our products.

Our aim with our CSR concept is to shoulder the necessary responsibility to leave a valuable legacy for the next generation. This is an ambitious goal and cannot be achieved overnight. Rather, it is an ongoing, never-ending process to which we have now been committed for over 20 years. We consistently strive for traceability, credibility, transparency, and trust. Fairness is a long road—yet it is our road, along which we progress step by step.

We have defined our corporate responsibility particularly in the areas of society, environmental protection, and animal welfare. Although we are fundamentally committed to all areas of CSR, social and ecological aspects determine our sustainability goals—aligned with our core business area.

1. Purchasing

Our responsibility is global.

We have most of our products manufactured in China, Vietnam, India, and other Asian sourcing markets. To fulfil our responsibility as a client for socially and environmentally compatible as well as sustainable production conditions, we have been a member of amfori BSCI and BEPI for many years.

The work of amfori – BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) & BEPI (Business Environmental Performance Initiative).

Amfori aims to ensure and continuously improve responsible social and environmental practices in the production and supply chain. Amfori therefore forms the basis of all business relationships between Delta-Sport and our contractual partners. As a member, our commitment is clear: acting fairly and honestly – at all times. The rules and standards of amfori are internationally recognised and thus provide a universal foundation for trade and cooperation with our various global supplier partners.
The fundamentals of responsible action are defined by the amfori BSCI Code of Conduct:

  • Freedom of association
  • No discrimination
  • No child labour
  • Legal minimum wage or industry-standard wages
  • Working hours (particularly overtime) comply with national laws
  • No forced labour or disciplinary measures
  • Workplace safety and health are ensured
  • The environment is respected
  • No bribery or corruption

In addition, the amfori BEPI Code of Conduct covers the following environmental performance areas:

Dialogue with our suppliers

In our efforts to create better social and environmental conditions, we have already achieved significant progress. We work closely with amfori and also conduct our own internal audits. However, the path to improved conditions is far from complete. Therefore, we attach great importance to working with our suppliers to develop guidelines and objectives and to learn from each other’s experience and knowledge. Dialogue with our suppliers is essential, and we actively promote the exchange of information. Through open communication and training, we can jointly develop and implement the best solutions. We are committed to continuous improvement and are grateful for the cooperation with our suppliers in bringing about positive change.

Delta-Sport is a company with a strong internal and external structure that consistently adheres to binding ethical principles. Good working conditions for employees are an indispensable and fundamental characteristic.

Our employees are the key to our success. We rely on their loyalty and reliability. Each of our employees has a clearly defined area of responsibility within which we encourage independent action, initiative, and creativity. We consistently comply with legal obligations relating to occupational safety and health.

Training and development

We believe that training and development measures ensure our future business success. They are also essential prerequisites for designing and implementing innovative solutions. For this reason, we offer training and development opportunities within our company – regardless of gender, origin, age, or religion. This strengthens motivation – and the personal development and satisfaction of each individual.

Our integrity

In cooperation with customers, suppliers, service providers, and social groups, integrity and reliability are our top priorities. We consider respectful interaction with business partners, employees, and resources as part of our corporate responsibility – worldwide. We contribute to social life through engagement in local and regional communities.

3. CO2 Footprint

CO2 (carbon dioxide) is one of the main contributors to the greenhouse effect. We aim to reduce our share of carbon dioxide emissions. To achieve this, we implement concrete measures:

  • We rely on new technologies such as video and telephone conferences, thereby reducing short and long travel distances.
  • We have reduced air transport.
  • We continuously reduce our consumption of water, electricity, and paper.

4. Chemicals

In the production of sophisticated items, the use of chemical products is necessary in order to achieve the desired functions, ensure high quality, or meet aesthetic requirements. Our goal is to use more and more sustainable and chemically safe products that do not harm human or animal health or the environment in general.
We do this through clear specifications that each of our suppliers must not only confirm but whose implementation we also verify. Regular testing is carried out in cooperation with internationally operating testing and certification companies, as well as technical audits. We want our customers to feel completely safe and comfortable.

5. Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®)

“Promoting environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of forests” — or in other words: only as much wood should be harvested as can grow back. This is the mission of the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®), and we support this non-profit organisation in its efforts. That is why our products carry the FSC label (FSC – C108925). This means our products are not only natural but also sustainable.

Our wildlife is in need of protection. Therefore, we are committed to ensuring that no animal abuse occurs in our production and that livestock is treated appropriately and in a species-appropriate manner. We are dedicated to animal protection and oppose keeping animals solely for the production of clothing items. This means the following:

  • No real fur products
  • Leather only from deceased animals
  • No mulesing (mutilation of sheep)
  • No live-plucking

Society
We take our responsibility globally. We are a member of amfori BSCI, whose Code of Conduct forms the basis of our business relationships. Better working conditions are a key concern for us. We also show responsibility towards our employees in Hamburg; therefore, training and development are firmly embedded in our company. Respectful interaction with customers, suppliers, and service providers is a matter of course for us.

Environmental Protection
We are firmly convinced that environmental impacts must be reduced to a minimum – ideally, they should be completely avoided. Therefore, we focus on certified organic cotton, efficient logistics, a clean carbon footprint, responsible use of chemicals, and the Forest Stewardship Council label.

Animal Welfare
We are committed to the species-appropriate treatment of animals. Therefore, the following rules apply to our products: no real fur products, leather only from deceased animals, no mulesing, no live-plucking (we are a member of Traumpass).

Outlook
We have already achieved a lot in the area of CSR. This motivates us to go even further: we want to improve our entire product range and our manufacturing processes according to ecological and social criteria. We want to meet our own standards – and those of our customers.
